The Dallas County Community Colleges at Commerce
offers ARMY ROTC through a cross-enrollment agreement
with the University of Texas at Arlington. What this
means is that you register for Army ROTC just like you
do for the rest of your classes at DCCCD, you pay your
tuition at DCCCD, and your DCCCD transcript will show
those classes, but you will attend classes at the
University of Texas at Arlington or in accordance to the
table below.
The University of Texas at Arlington is the host
campus for the Maverick Battalion ROTC Program. The
ROTC Offices are located in College Hall. The
Enrollment Officer is located in Room 109 and the main
Department Offices are in the basement down the stairs
or elevator.
ROTC cadets spend their time like typical college
students. Freshmen and Sophomores have a fifty minute
class one day a week. Juniors and Seniors go to class
twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday for eighty
minutes. All cadets participate in the three hour lab on
Thursday.
Once you have decided to Join the Maverick Battalion
follow the steps outlined in the
Enrollment webpage. The
information below is a handy registration reference for
registering for your classes.

ACADEMIC PLACEMENT
In ROTC, your academic placement is consistent with
the year of graduation of your bachelor's degree. This
allows for the best alignment with your peers, advanced
summer camp, and leadership positions. You can see some
samples in the Enrollment
webpage.

REGISTER FOR CLASSES
Once you know your placement, you can register for
classes. If you are short on time, do not worry, use
your best guess and we will review your placement during
the first week of class.
If you have any problems registering at DCCCD,
please contact Mr. John Gerik at 817-272-3281 or
gerik@uta.edu.

FIRST DAY OF CLASS AND
FIRST LAB
The first day as a cadet is a busy day. You will be
received by your instructor who will verify all the
enrollment and scholarship paperwork. The instructor
will also explain the basics of ROTC, discuss your class
requirements, hand-out the course syllabus, and even
start issuing your uniforms and equipment. Your
instructor will be able to answer much of your questions
or call on other faculty and staff to help you out.
First lab is just as busy. In addition to meeting your
cadet chain of command, you will receive the basics of
drill and ceremony (marching), the formal welcome from
the Professor of Military Science and the rest of the
faculty and staff, and finish with the traditional BBQ
welcome.
Paperwork requirements can be cumbersome, however, you
will find all the details and forms in the
enrollment webpage. The
more paperwork you can complete on-line and ahead of
schedule, the smoother the process will go.
