	COMMUNITY RELATIONS Every year the Corps of Cadets receives many request for their teams to participate in many activities.  The Color Guard participates in over 15 events each year, followed by the Sam Houston Rifles, and the Carlisle Cannons. Each request is considered on a first come, first serve basis, and they are performed by cadets volunteers from the teams.   Many request cannot be honored due to conflict with academics or field training exercises.  Cadets are not excused from classes nor can miss then voluntarily to perform the activities. In addition to the cadets, there must also be a cadre member available to drive them to the activity. The cadet teams are the official color guard for the University of Texas at Arlington as well as the partner institutions, and therefore their request take priority. If your organization is interested in requesting the Color Guard, the Sam Houston Rifles Drill Team, or the Carlisle Cannons, please email the Commandant as early as possible with the details of the request.  The Commandant will reply accordingly. It is customary for the host to offer a complementary meal to the cadets and cadre who participate in the activity if appropriate (as in a banquet), and/or make a donation by cash or check to the Cadet Activities Fund.  This fund is used to cover the expenses of the cadets teams which are not covered by the University or the US Army. There is no set amount for the donation, which usually range from $100 to $1000.  It should depend on the size of the cadet team that supports you as well as the number of people that attend your event.
